Dreamcatcher Ranch Horse Camp
For the Parents

Some of the following may be seen elsewhere on the site, but we wanted to emphasize them in a concise way for the parents.

Health Forms:  New health form are required by the Health Department every two years with an update on the off year. They are specifically looking for allergies, immunizations and a doctor's signature.
Medications:  All medications must be in a locked cabinet and dispersed by staff. Please make sure prescription meds are in original containers with directions. A log will be maintained for all dispersals.
Identify Personal Items: Every year we have a large lost and found bin. The most abundant article are socks...usually unmatched. It is important for the campers to identify their personal items and make sure they try to find them before departure.
Towels:  It is very important to have the campers bring at least two towels...one for the pool and the other for the shower. We do have a fine collection of forgotten towels that eventually go to the horses.
Permissions:  We cannot release a camper to anyone other than a custodial parent or guardian without written permission from that parent or guardian.
Packages:  If you want to send care packages, be sure to send it via UPS or FEDEX...any means other than through the mail because the post office will not deliver and we sometimes cannot get down to pick them up for several days. Letters are delivered to the ranch.
Phone Calls: We have unlimited long distance, so phone cards are not necessary. It is usually best to try to reach your child in the evening (after 7), or perhaps mid-day.  They are allowed to call out to you.
Email:  Email is welcome both by and for the campers. You can use equicamp@aol.com or the camper's own address if she knows how to access it. We do check email several times daily.
Times and Days:  Just to reiterate;  drive-ins are to be dropped of on Sunday between 4 and 5 and picked up the following Saturday between 1 and 2;  fly-in campers (available for two week campers only) need to arrive at the airport between close to 1 PM on Sunday and depart the Saturday two weeks later close to 3 PM.
About the Pool:  Our pool is a "sports pool" meaning it is not for diving. It is 3.5  feet  on each end and goes to a depth of 5 feet in the center. It is used for playing games, cooling off, swimming laps or just lounging on air mattresses. We do have a certified lifeguard, and the campers are supervised at all times while in the pool. Please advise us in advance if your child is unable to swim.
Skin Protection:  We are at about 3500 feet elevation and the air is thinner here, so during the summer, burns can occur easily. We encourage your child to bring their favorite suntan lotion. If not, we do provide it made by Rocky Mountain Sunscreen at 30+ SPF. Lip protection made by the same company is also for sale in our Camp Store.
Special Diets:  Please advise us in advance of special diet requirements or food allergies. You may have to provide some substitutions, although we do try to accommodate as much as possible.
Camp Store:  As mentioned earlier, we do have a small camp store with items that help keep Dreamcatcher memories alive. We also have Novelty Dreamcatcher items (hats, visors, shorts, chapstick, journals, pens, and more) plus disposable cameras, and snacks for sale. It is recommended that the parents establish a line of credit prior to leaving their daughter for camp.  This eliminated cash being lost or need to handle back and forth during camp.
Snacks: Some more nutritious snacks, like apples, chips, and fruit bars are provided. The campers are welcome to bring their own or purchase them at our store. Of course, care packages are always welcome. We do require that no drinks other than water and snacks not be stored in the yurt. Space will be provided.
